BMW Malaysia recently introduced the All-New BMW X4 during the BMW Malaysia Buka Puasa event. The second-generation BMW X4 will be locally assembled in Malaysia, further demonstrating BMW Group Malaysia’s commitment to growing its investments in the country. There will only be one variant on sale here which is the xDrive 30i M Sport. The BMW X4 is a Sport Activity Coupe (SAC) which stands out with its coupe-like roofline, athletic curves and distinct M Sport characteristics.
Being an xDrive 30i M Sport means that the new BMW X4 will be powered by the B48 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 252HP and 350Nm of torque. The all-new BMW X4 will do 0-100 in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of 240km/h. The new BMW X4 can also achieve an average fuel consumption of 7.8L/100km. The engine will be paired with an 8 speed Steptronic Sport transmission complete with launch control function.
Since the BMW X4 also has BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system which includes electronic diff lock, hill-start assist, hill descent control and performance control. As the new BMW X4 is an M Sport vehicle, the car comes with adaptive suspension and Variable Sport Steering. Being an M Sport derivative, this X4 xDrive30i benefits from adaptive suspension and variable sport steering.
The all-new BMW X4 is now bigger than its predecessor with 81 mm longer (4,752 mm), 37 mm wider (1,918 mm), three millimetres shorter (1,621 mm) and has a 2,864 mm wheelbase (52 mm longer than before). Being bigger doesn’t mean its heavier as the car is built using light-weight aluminum and high-strength steel component which brought down the vehicle’s weight by up to 50 kilograms. BMW also claims that the new BMW X4 a perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution.
The SAC comes with 20-inch M light alloy Double-spoke rims in the style of 699M with staggered tyres and will also feature the M Sport brake painted in blue with the ///M designation.
The all-new BMW X4 can immediately be recognizable from afar with its muscular dynamic and commanding presence. There is a new 3D design of the larger BMW kidney grille up front with adaptive LED headlights and high beam assistant. The BMW X4 also features a long bonnet with low windscreen and acoustic glass fitted to reduce wind noise. The rear aspect of the BMW X4 is distinctive with a coupe-style roofline for a sporty and dynamic appearance. Slim, wrap-around taillights in their 3D styling for an extremely athletic rear end.
Inside the new BMW X4, there is a 12.3-inch Multifunctional Instrument Display with black-panel technology with a larger free-standing 10.25-inch Navigation System Professional with Touch Sensitive Control Display complete with BMW ConnectedDrive and a 600W 16-speaker Harmon Kardon surrounds system. There is also a full-colour Head-Up Display on the new BMW X4.
The interior is now furnished with the exquisite Vernasca Leather upholstery and a three-zone air conditioning system with separate controls for the rear seats. Besides that, the new BMW X4 also comes with a large Panorama Glass Roof which makes the cabin appear brighter and more spacious for a luxurious ambiance while on the road. There is also a new design sport seats for a sportier ambiance. The luggage capacity in the new BMW X4 has also increased by 25 liters to 525 liters and can be expanded to 1,430 liters with the seats down.
The all-new BMW X4 will be offered in Alpine White, Carbon Black, Flamenco Red, and Phytonic Blue. Black Vernasca leather upholstery is available for all exterior offerings while the new Tacora Red Vernasca leather upholstery is exclusive to Alpine White and Carbon Black. The all-new BMW X4 is priced at RM380k on the road, without insurance. The new X4 will come with 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Free Scheduled Service Programme and BMW Tyre Warranty Programme. The car will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from 1st June 2019.
