All eyes on Penang as they host the third round of the Season 3 Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival from the 15th to the 16th of February 2020. Penang adds another feather to their tourism cap with motorsports as they host the wildly attractive and crowd-pulling TGR Festival. While the festival is all about motorsports and drift shows, the highlight comes from the highly competitive Toyota Vios Challenge. This racing class is somewhat of a one-make race as teams aren’t allowed to modify their cars for more power. Also attracting attention are the drivers who include celebrities, battle-hardened racing drivers and upcoming youth drivers.
The race will be a breathe holding one as it could swing the driver’s championship in any direction. Held at Stadium Batu Kawan, the SUper Sporting, Sporting, and Promotional class championship hangs in the balance. This will be the final street circuit race on the TGR calendar before the final round in April at Sepang International Circuit. The Super Sporting class is for professionals and unsurprisingly dominated by Malaysia’s Drift King, Tengku Djan Ley but being hunted closely by Mark Darwin and Kenny Lee. So far the racing has been simply splendid to watch with all drivers showing impressive skill and professionalism.
Want to watch your favorite celebrity bash it out on the track? TGR is where you have that chance. Currently led by Nabil Ahmad but followed closely by Season 1 champion, Shawn Lee and singer Khai Bahar. Not to worry, the weekend is not all about racing, there will be plenty of attractions on display and activities such as a zumba fitness session and limited goodie bags to be given away. No entry fees! See you guys in Penang!
