This takes us right back like way back when, pretty much. Loyal followers of this here mag would surely recall a similarly kitted Celica ZZT having gone from a standard 1.8 Liter to a fabulously reworked low-slung super special, with some 250 ponies resplendent with all manner of enhancements scattered over the entire length of the Toyota Sports Compact, with the bulk of goodies having gone underneath the engine bay. With the added benefits of being in the thick of all things tuning, the said Celica had undergone a build process that threads the narrow path between understatement and aggressiveness; a bold unrestrained styling persona through and through.
Okay that ‘infamous’ Lemon Yellow Celica has had its days, having been a one-off build project belonging to one of our own sometime circa 2006. This then is its forced induced derivative slashed successor slashed homage slashed tribute. Well anyway we have featured one rather showy and extensively soupped-up Toyota Celica prepped by these guys a while back. To recap that white and black Top Secret superspeciale ran a Greddy supercharger with a bunch of TSP aftermarket parts, churning out some 240 whp. And its chassis et al were extensively done-up as well, with the styling criterion being given extra attention. Well we’d leave this well enough alone alright? Having talked about it at length already yeah?
Now this banana yellow Celica has been given the extra surge of power courtesy of a Top Secret Performance Turbo Kit, with nary a single internal parts being replaced. The fuel system’s upgrade was considerable and again TSP components were mostly used. With the AEM FIC engine management, plus stainless steel exhaust system the power at the wheel numbers are pretty impressive – 180 whp and 190 Nm.
The transmission is a fully standard 4-speed auto and elsewhere everything’s pretty stock as well, including the exterior which with clever adaptations of yellow paintjob and black detailing plus black as night 16 inch OZ Racing Wheels makes for a fabulously dazzling ZZT 231 Celica.
