Ford Motor Company’s evergreen Focus, inasmuch its meaning and definition implies a purity of purpose that typifies the very essence of the ‘default’ performance hatch genre, with all due tributes and accolades as well as acknowledgements for the Focus more practical albeit less desirable sedan variant. In a less eloquent wording, the preferences among the majority, with all due respect to the sedan is on the Focus hatch.
Be that as it may, the limited space we have right here and now is hardly the place for us to debate or debunk the appeal of the sedan or hatchback variants that carries the popular ‘Focus’ badge, not in the least. We are here to celebrate forever more, the essence of speed, the embodiment of style, the synergy of both elements into one wholesome object – this ‘effervescent’ green Ford Focus RS enhanced inside and out by Megalodon Performance Ventures.
Being the default go-to guys for Continental vehicles with the famous Blue Oval logo as well as a small number of other makes of European origin, Megalodon Performance Ventures have made a solid reputation out of reenhancing rides along a classier, more ‘tailored’ personification, imbuing them thereafter with a level of performance that fits them perfectly in much the same way Charlize Theron, despite her being well into her 40s made a skin-tight lycra suit ‘work’ in that superb Atomic Blonde flick.
Indeed, we have become acccustomed to having genuine class and talent right here in the local scene (we’re talki ng about cars here folks pay attention) and one look at the handsome presence of this Mark II Focus RS despite being wrapped in a color not all would deemed popular, the Megalodon tech crew have managed to make the whole visual manifestation work pretty darn well. The underlying concept for this Foucs RS project agreed upon by parties concerned (the owner and Megalodon guys themselves) is the minimalist ‘less is more’ concept.
Indeed we can all agree just as readily that the Mark II Focus RS, with its factory RS aerodynamic package including a large venturi tunnel and dramatic spoiler at the tail end, has all the solid visual niceties that has become pretty much all the rage these days. And with its eye-catching ‘Ultimate’ Green paintjob – a tribute to the glorious 1970s Ford Le Mans Green of the Ford Escort RS1600 era, given a set of Team Dynamics Racing Pro Race 1.2 custom made wheels sized 18 inch, shod with Continental 40 series tyres. The black rims, which contrasted with the stock Mk II RS’ silver ones, provides a whiff of clue at the perkier power residing underneath the hood.
The Duratec RS engine which is essentially a reworked Volvo-built 2.5 liter inline-5 further infused with a BorgWarner K16 turbocharger was given an array of premium aftermarket goodies by Megalodon – fully imported branded parts that are indeed familiar among Ford enthusiasts and the likes. We’re referring to Airtec (Intercooler Stage 3), Roose Motorsports (pressure and coolant hose kits, each color coded as green and yellow respectively), UK’s Auto Specialists – the erstwhile Essex based specialist that has been ‘manufacturing specialist parts for the faster fords since 1992’ (carbon fiber intake kit and chrome air ram), the brand with one of the coolest name DO88 (high flow pressure pipe kit), famous exhaust brand Milltek (2.75 inch diameter catless downpipe), and lastly Mishimoto (performance radiator).
As per the details provided Shark Performance had custom tune to limit the power at 320WHP, as in 320 exploitable ponies if you know what I mean. This Focus RS Mark II also happens to be the high spec version produced in limited numbers back during circa 2009, which means it features a complete list of option including full screen entertainment console slash display, reverse camera, leather & alcantara seats. Nice isn’t it?
On the handling enhancements, the owner decide on AutoFOAM chassis strengthening foam treatment, which pretty much adds quite a substantial percentage to the renowned Focus handling prowess. Rounding things up nice and neat is some handy brake mods – BF Goodridge steel braided brake hose and EBC Yellow stuff brake pads.
