It is one of the Trio which was a godsend during the era of the pinnacle of V8 and big engine high horsepower small sedan before car makers start downsizing their engine and turbocharging them. It was the last of its kind and is currently on its way to the collectors’ podium. Mercedes build the mighty C63 AMG Black Series to battle with the powerhouse from Audi and BMW.
For starters, the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series is powered by the powerful 6.2-liter V8 which is designed and built by AMG and it gains the Mercedes Benz SLS forged pistons, conrods and a lightweight crankshaft as well as a new ECU which puts out 510 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque which is 59hp and 14ft-lb more than the regular C63 AMG. Put your right foot hard on the accelerator and watch the rear wheels generate a cloud of smoke enough to be mistaken as someone fogging the area and if you nailed it right, the car will launch you to 100km/h in 4.0-seconds, revving all the way to 7200rpm with tons of torque enough to make you stick onto your chair which is mind-blowingly fast at that era. This C63 AMG is a car that AMG sent to hell and back to haunt many.
The C63 AMG Black Series doesn’t just stop there as it gains a set of coilover suspension, stiffen spring, fatter anti-roll bars, limited-slip diff as standard and the front track is 1.6 inches wider than the standard C63 while the rear track gains a massive 3.1 inches. The C63 AMG Black Series is definitely a DTM car for the road with the wide fender flares, carbon fiber canards, vented hood, carbon fiber front splitter and a fully adjustable rear wing which is directly taken off from David Coulthard’s AMG DTM car. The owner decided to add his own personal touch to the car by wrapping it bright green and it really sets the car apart.
Driving the C63 AMG Black Series is where you will notice the big differences is between the Black Series and the regular C63 AMG. The body roll has been totally eliminated which means the C63 AMG Black Series will allow a much higher cornering entry speed. Steering weight is in the sweet spot and the steering really communicates with the driver as there is so much feedback as well as lateral grip. The coilover is slightly more aggressive on the worst road condition but when you are driving on the highway, it makes so much sense as the car feels planted to the ground at any speed you are traveling at.
Moving on inside you will be greeted by the gorgeous-looking AMG sport bucket seats which is comfortable and super supportive on the track. The red seat belt is a really nice touch as it brings in some color to the cabin and enhances the sportiness look of the car. The driving position is dead straight and it is located down low with the flat bottom and flat top steering wheel. The C63 AMG Black Series cabin is a really nice place to be in because after all, it is a C class which means you’ll get all the premium touch.
It doesn’t matter how you look at it or which angle you’re looking at it, the C63 AMG Black Series is a sexy looking beast which has a lot of motorsport genes from every angle. It is possibly one of the best car AMG has ever produced.
