There's something about cars and carbon fibre. Slapping a carbon fibre bonnet on a car immediately enhances its street credibility ten fold. It's funny how the look of a car can be transformed from mild mannered sport hatch/coupe/sedan to killer tarmac scorcher fairly easily with a carbon fibre bonnet. Carbon fibre isn't all for show either; it really does help to save weight. For those who don't already know, carbon fibre is stronger than steel yet up to 6 times lighter.

Shedden, owner of Motorsport Division and Racecraft, was kind enough to let us feature his Racecraft demo car in this issue of our humble magazine. Racecraft, if you didn't already know, sells carbon fibre and carbon kevlar parts for all cars. From carbon fibre bonnets to carbon kevlar seats to carbon fibre mufflers, Racecraft has them all.

He chose a 5th generation Honda Civic as his demo car and I'm very glad that he did. I've always loved the EG Civic. Back in 1994 when my mom told me that she'd ordered one I was so excited. Although it was a bog standard D-series equipped automatic, I always hoped that she would pass it on to me one fine day. Nine years from the day she brought it back, she passed the keys down to me. It was a life defining moment. I was driving my grandma's ugly and slow Volvo 244 before this. Hell of an upgrade, yes, and I was very, very pleased with my Civic, that is, until I laid eyes on Shedden's example.

We all know that envy and lust are two of the seven deadly sins as stated in the Christian Bible and if that is true, I probably have just booked a nice warm seat in hell for myself. Looking at his car makes mine feel inadequate to say the least. Nice paintjob, sweet carbon fibre parts all over and a screaming B18C5 in the front make Mark a very green (green with jealousy that is) boy.

The first time I heard about the car was from The Bossman, Murali. “Mark, you should see Shedden's Civic, carbon hood, carbon fenders, waaa damn cun wey!” True enough when we went to Shedden's Civic I was awestruck. Never have I seen so much carbon fibre on an EG Civic.
