Honda Malaysia has unveiled the new HR-V Sport Hybrid i-DCD earlier today and in doing so continues to record another milestone in the local automobile market, a time-honored corporate stratagem that goes way back to 2004, when Honda Malaysia pioneered the introduction of hybrid technology in our country.
The newest and most tech-loaded HR-V Sport Hybrid i-DCD draws its power from a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine with Direct Injection matted to the familiar 7-speed dual-clutch transmission Integrated with Honda’s High Power Motor. With the additional High-Power Lithium-Ion Battery pack beckoning the smooth and efficient Sport Hybrid powertrain, the total power output is equal to a 2000cc engine, with additional pluses being quick response plus exhilarating drive to boot.
According to Mr. Toichi Ishiyama, Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, the latest HR-V carries the corporate objective of Honda Malaysia as such the introduction of Honda Motors’ Next Generation Advanced Technologies in each and every one of Honda’s production vehicles.
With the advent of the HR-V as among the top selling Hondas with some 20% of total sales, this latest Sport Hybrid iteration comes exceedingly loaded with all the latest tech complimenting its cutting edge hybrid hardware; such as equally cutting edge safety features dubbed Honda SENSING.
Other key Hybrid exclusive features include Electric Servo Brake System (for improved energy regeneration), Fully Electric Driven Compressor air-conditioner system, Illuminated Meter Cluster Multi Information Display, Shift by Wire and Sport Mode.
Alongside the Hybrid HR-V comes the sportier HR-V RS variant debuting in Malaysia with a 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC motor complimented with Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology CVT drivetrain that delivers a balance of performance and fuel efficiency. Sportier and more exciting dynamics comes via Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering system, with aesthetical tweaks as per stylish 18-inch Dual-Tone Alloy Wheels, Sporty Design Front Grille and black front and rear bumper enhances the RS version’s sportiness.
As per its utility features then new HR-V features cleverly conceived Multi-Utility Cargo Space allowinf for class leading cabin space; whereas the long list of default active and passive tech are all pretty much standard affair – Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, 8-Way Driver Power Seat (V & RS), full leather seats (V & RS), Honda LaneWatch camera (V & RS), Cruise Control and Paddle Shift. Standard Safety features in the New HR-V include Six Airbags, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS),Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and ISO Fix.
With the lower spec entry level petrol HR-V E variant (RM108, 800 OTR without insurance), the RM118, 800 (also OTR minus insurance) V version, Honda Malaysia offers four versions of the new HR-V to choose from, as well as 5 colour options: Passion Red Pearl (a new colour in the Honda model line-up), Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, RuseBlack Metallic, and White Orchid Pearl.
